Capt. Andrew is a phenomenal fishing guide for both fly and light tackle. He really knows what he is doing on the water and has his area dialed! On day one we wanted to target sharks; Before the madness started he told me everything I needed to know about catching sharks. Captain Andrew to me how to entice them so they hit the fly, which fly color work the best, and what to do when you have a shark on the end of your line. We started chumming and had a good slick going, when we saw a nice size shark come in hot and attack our fly. I watched as more and more sharks came up to the boat and we hooked up on a couple of really nice sized ones too. Day two was all about catching mahi-mahi so we planned to check out a couple of Andrews different go to spots. We got up and out on the boat bright early. Our drive out was as smooth as glass, it looked as if you could drive as far as you wanted to. As we first started to fish he told me everything I needed to know about fishing a fly rod deep to bring fish up off of the wreck. I learned what flies king mackerel, barracuda, amberjack, and many other species like and different colors that work better for different fish. At the first spot we quickly started our drift and there were hundreds of spadefish coming up to the boat to see what we were and soon enough barracudas showed up. It wasn’t long before I was hooked up on amberjacks and had a four and a half foot barracuda destroy my fly. He ran a little ways, jumped like a tarpon with its gills flared. Soon I got him up to the boat and it jumped again, scales flew over Capt. Andrew. Then all good things must come to an end, it dove under the boat and broke me off from my drag set for amberjack. We hit several spots closer in, before we headed out to the gulf to fish for a while. After a day full of fishing and catching many species, we headed in for the day. Our cooler was full enough for the 3 of us with black fin tuna, albies, skipjack tuna, and mahi in the cooler. I highly suggest booking a trip and going out with Capt. Andrew Campbell and Jay. He is an amazing guide that will share his wealth of knowledge and he tell you anything you want to make your day more successful. He knows his North Carolina water in like the back of his hand. He is an amazing person to fish with, learn from and hangout with! I look forward to my next time out on the water with Captain Andrew Campbell. -Braden Miller
