Atlantic Bonito and False Albacore migrate along the North Carolina Coast (Atlantic Beach/ Cape Lookout) on their way North when water temps is hit the mid 60s. Bonita/Bonito are located on reefs and wrecks in 30-50ft. of water. All three species take both fly and jig well and are often caught on the surface sometimes on poppers early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Bonito and Spanish are excellent eating fish while False Albacore, not so much, but are the hardest fighting and fastest fish of the three.
